Here is a simple, foolproof recipe for homemade bread! It is so easy that anybody can do it, and bread always turns out just right every time!
Baking bread has been my obsession lately. I’m telling you, it can take hours and hours sometimes!
It takes more than 24 hours, but don’t sweat it—there’s only about 15 minutes of prep time, if that! After that, you just let the yeast work its magic.
This is a no-knead recipe, which basically means less effort on your part. It’s so easy that it’s just about laughable. Seriously, anybody can pull this off. I mean, anyone!

kcalA basic, FOOLPROOF homemade bread recipe here! Anyone can make this! I PROMISE!!!! And the bread comes out just perfect!
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh rosemary, or more, to taste
1 ¼ teaspoons kosher salt
¾ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
½ teaspoon instant yeast
1 ½ cups water, at room temperature
2 tablespoons cornmeal
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, garlic, rosemary, salt, pepper and yeast.
- Using a wooden spoon or your hand, add water and mix until a wet, sticky dough forms, about 30 seconds.
- Cover bowl tightly with plastic wrap and let stand at room temperature until surface is dotted with bubbles, about 18 to 24 hours.
- Lightly oil a 10-inch cast iron skillet or coat with nonstick spray; sprinkle with cornmeal.
- Working on a lightly floured surface, gently shape dough into a round.
- Place dough into the prepared skillet. Cover with a clean dishtowel and let stand at room temperature until dough has doubled in size and does not readily spring back when poked with a finger, about 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Place into oven and bake until golden brown, about 30-40 minutes.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Accuracy is achieved when almond flour is weighed, rather than measured by volume.
At times, baking soda will leave a faint ammonia-like flavor in baked goods. If you have a sensitivity to this, you can substitute it with 2 teaspoons of fresh, gluten-free baking powder.
You will require fresh garlic, minced on the spot for this recipe. Using jarred garlic won’t have the same flavor, so it’s worth waiting until you have some fresh cloves on hand.
Using an oval dish, you will have 14 slices. A square dish will yield 10 slices and the nutritional information is based on 10.
Keep leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container. Reheat slices gently in microwave on 50% power for around 10 seconds, or at full power for 5 seconds.
